Bratislava, 31 October 2011. The priority product line communicated by the Slovak Tourist Board (SACR) to the German market is spa and health tourism. The Germans like to invest in their health and make use of therapeutic and preventative spa stays. In order to make them choose Slovak spa resorts from a broad offer of various countries, the representation of SACR in Germany organised a series of presentations in Berlin and Dresden from 26 to 28 October.

It was a new form of targeted presentations organised by SACR in cooperation with German tour operators, specialised in spa and health tourism. Individual presentations were given also by spas Piešťany, Trenčianske Teplice, Dudince, Rajecké Teplice, Smrdáky and Sliač. Information events were visited by nearly 900 potential spa guests who travelled to Berlin and Dresden also from other German cities (Schwerin, Leipzig, Halle, Chemnitz, Rostock, Greiswald).

Presentation events included workshops offering individual consultations and discussions with representatives of the spas present. The country presentation was completed by degustation of Slovak culinary specialities and high-quality wines. For the next year, SACR plans to continue with similar presentations also in other German cities.

In 2010, therapeutic stay in Slovak spas was enjoyed by nearly 11 000 Germans staying there for 15.3 days in average. As the number of German tour operators offering spa stays in Slovakia, partly reimbursed by German health insurance, is growing, it seems that the number of visitors would gradually grow as well.
